The Australian Fire Association (AFA) is a membership driven organisation representing fire safety practitioners throughout Australia.
The AFA main focus is to promote and protect the professional interests of fire safety practitioners and enhance life safety in the community.
Supporting the fire safety profession
The AFA improves community fire safety by supporting the fire safety profession through a range of services including:
- protecting the academic, professional, and economic independence of fire safety practitioners
- promoting and advancing ethical behaviour of members of the fire safety profession
Code of Ethics
The AFA’s Code of Ethics represents the core of fundamental principles, which should guide fire safety practitioners in their professional conduct. The Code of Ethics for Members is available here. The Code of Ethics for Affiliates is available here.
Advocacy
The AFA will advocate on behalf of its members at the Federal, and State and Territory levels by:
- working with governments to increase and maintain fire safety for all Australians
- providing informed, expert commentary on fire safety issues
- commissioning and conducting research on fire safety issues
